Creating an automated collection
Last updated: August 11, 2025
What is an automated collection?
An automated collection uses custom filters to automatically include matching inventory. When a vehicle gets imported that matches the custom filters for a collection, it is automatically added to the collection.
Automated collections are usually preferred because, after you set up the filters, future vehicles are added automatically. For example, suppose that you have a lot of custom trucks and you use vAuto. If you tag all your custom trucks with a tag in vAuto, such as custom, then all your custom trucks can automatically be included in the matching collection.
One drawback to creating an automated collection is that you can't remove particular vehicles from it unless you change the collection's conditions or edit the vehicle's details so that they no longer match the conditions.
How to create an automated collection
- In the left sidebar, find the 'Collections' (under Inventory) and then 'Add Collection'
- Assign a name to your collection and add a description (you can also upload an image or attach a slideshow to display at the top of a page)
- The name of the collection is shown as the heading on your website
- The description is also shown on the website, next to the heading.
- Choose the 'Automated' type to automatically filter inventory by vehicle attributes
- Define criteria to match inventory. For our example:
- 'Condition' is equal to 'New'
- 'Body Type' is equal to 'SUV'
- After setting conditions, click 'Next'. Review your collection's details and hit 'Publish' to go live
Your collection is now live on your website.
